Congratulations to all of our members that took part in the KUGB Southern Region Championships in Reading on Saturday, especially to our medallists!
We took our biggest ever squad of 18 competitors to this year's event and were proud to see so many first time competitors and a Children's Kata team.
The championship saw the club reclaim the Team Kata title that has alluded them since 2012 with a team of Tim Griffiths, Ashley Hall and Steven Connell.
Club instructor Tim Griffiths picked up the Male Individual Kata title with a performance of Goju Shiho Dai in the final. This was his third individual kata title in a row and fourth in total.
We are delighted to announce that club member Ian Connell won the KUGB Southern Region Male Veteran Kumite title - the first ever. The event, sponsored by Backwell Karate, was introduced this year at the request of the club and proved to be a great success, with some truly exciting bouts.
Congratulations too to Fergus Puddy, who secured a silver medal in the Boys' 5'5" and above kumite. Fergus fought confidentally and continues to improve through regular hard training.
Well done to everyone that took part and also thanks to all of those that came along to support the club - your cheering and encouragement were greatly appreciated!
