Charlie passes black belt

Congratulations to Charlie Carter, who has successfully graded to black belt!

Charlie took her grading in Abingdon, Oxfordshire under a grading panel of Sensei Andy Sherry and Sensei Bob Rhodes.

Tim Griffiths, Backwell Karate’s Chief instructor, “After starting at the club at the age of 9, Charlie worked her way up through the coloured belts but nerves sometimes appeared to hold her back. Over the last six months she’s improved her skills tremendously which, in turn, has helped with her confidence and we’re all delighted to see that her hard work has paid off.

Tim Griffiths, Backwell Karate instructor, said, “We hope that Charlie’s success shows many of the other girls and ladies at the club that with hard work and determination you can reach black belt. While Charlie is by no means the only female black belt at the club, we truly believe that there should be more. Why shouldn’t half of our black belts be female?”
