We are delighted to announce that Sensei Frank Brennan will be teaching a special course at Scotch Horn Leisure Centre auditorium on Sunday 26th July.
This will also incorporate a kyu grading for those eligible and will also replace our usual Sunday morning class, so there will be no training at Backwell Parish Hall on this occasion.
Sensei Frank Brennan is a world-renowned karateka, having been 10 times KUGB Grand Champion, 4 times ESKA European Grand Champion, once WSKA World Kata Champion, once JKA World Shoto Cup team kumite champion and 2 times JKA World Shoto Cup individual kumite runner up. Sensei Brennan was recently awarded the rank of 8th Dan at this year’s KUGB National Championships.
Training times are as follows:
All grade training: 12.00-1.30pm
Kyu grading: 1.30-2.30pm
Dan grade training: 3.00-4.30pm
Scotch Horn Leisure Centre has a café area which will be open throughout the day.
We're limiting the numbers for the course and also offering 'early bird' prices, so don't forget to book in advance! Registration for the classes will close as soon as capacity is reached, so please book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
You can book in person at any Backwell Karate or Nailsea Karate classes or by email, with payment made straight to the club by online transfer.
Kyu grades that are grading (payment to be received by Sunday 19th July):
Training and grading: £20
Early bird prices (payment to be received by Sunday 19th July):

Both classes (dan grades only): £15

To help the kyu grading run smoothly, all club members wishing to grade must bring along their red KUGB grading record book and training/grading fee by Sunday 19th July at the latest, at which point registration for the grading closes.
Only those members that have completed at least the minimum number of lessons and who are at the standard required will be given permission to grade. Permission to grade will be confirmed no later than two weeks prior to the grading date. Only those with an up-to-date KUGB licence on the day of the grading will be able to grade, so please check your licence book now. New members that have not applied for a KUGB licence and therefore do not have a red KUGB licence book must apply straight away. For any queries please speak to Sensei Tim Griffiths.
